When Madhavaram police officers were patrolling in the locality on Friday night, they intercepted an autorickshaw with six people.

As their answers were contradictory, the police officers inspected the vehicle and seized two knives.

The arrested were identified as Lokesh (29), Ajith (29), Ramesh (30), Kumaravel (30), Saravanan (22) and Prakash. After further investigation, police said that the gang was planning to murder Muthuvel, the owner of the autorickshaw, for whom Lokesh was working. As Muthuvel scolded Lokesh after the latter lost the spare wheel in the vehicle, the gang decided to murder him.
