25-yr-old uses fake notes at supermarket, arrested
Police arrested a 25-year-old man when he tried to exchange counterfeit notes at a supermarket in Perungalathur on Tuesday evening. The arrested person was identified as Prakash of Coimbatore who has been residing at Varadarajapuram in Mudichur.

Accompanied by two women, Prakash went to the supermarket on Mudichur Road in Old Perungalathur on Tuesday evening. Police said they purchased for Rs 600 and Prakash gave two Rs 500 notes at the cash counter.
The cashier noticed that both the notes had the same serial numbers and informed his higher-ups.
Sensing trouble, the women escaped from the spot quietly. However, Prakash was nabbed and hand-ed over to the Perkankaranai police.
He was found in possession of 15 photocopies of Rs 500 notes. After interrogating him, police carried out searches at his house and found several photocopies of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 notes and a printer. Peerkankaranai police arrested him and further inquiry is on. The police are also trying to nab the two women with the help of the CCTV footage.
