Accordingly, experts said, “Today, children are born into the digital world. From 2000 till today they have seen a transformation, which several generations have never seen. Social media and digital media usage is not a choice anymore, but a must!”
Are parents going to prevent their children from using the same? What is the solution? The expert panel who has an in-depth experience in working along with children, parents and their psychology brought various perspectives and made it a successful event.
As the event started, Lakshmi Narayanan, Director of OnlySuccess Leadership Academy Private Limited, introduced the panel of experts to the audience.
The experts include, Dr Kishore Kumar (Founder and correspondent, St John’s Public School), Dr Yamini Kannappan (Consultant Psychiatrist, Kauvery hospital) and Vidyashankar Guru (Founder and CEO, OnlySuccess), shared their views on the topic.
“The parents of this generation who are not greatly exposed to the power of digital devices but having kids who are born in the digital world, will face the challenge. The digital devices have become important for every child. It makes learning process fun and exciting. But, what they get access from it, is not just a helpful educational tool but, a device which can connect to anyone in the world, said Vidya Shankar Guru.
Dr Kishore said, “The topic is very visible and invisible which cannot be controlled as the children have already got used to it. The things happening between two individual can be controlled but, between media and an individual cannot be controlled.” “How many times we would have heard the same ringtone playing from the phone, though it was not, that is hallucination and that’s how we are affected by the media,” said Dr Yamini.
“What is that the children are learning from these video? Learning happens but what they learn is the problem. The best form of education is the relationship between the teacher and the student and not between the screen and the student,” added Dr Kishore.
Experts concluded that role of parents are more important until they grow up. Every child is a reflection of their parents.
Digital revolution is here to stay and it has already invaded the mankind. It becomes the responsibility of the parents to ensure their children use the power of digital media and technology in the right way. Finally, the event went very successfully with different thoughts and views on the same.
