Four hurt in accident on Kamarajar Salai

Four persons were injured in an accident on Kamarajar Salai in Marina Beach on Thursday morning.

An empty tanker lorry coming from the Lighthouse end tried to overtake a car in the front near Vivekanandar Illam, but it lost control and crashed into a signal post on the other side. A truck coming in the opposite direction with refilled LPG cylinder ran over the pavement to avoid collision and turned turtle over a two-wheeler. Fortunately, the bike rider Ramesh Babu jumped off the vehicle and escaped with minor injuries.

The driver of the truck Palani (36) and two others in the vehicle, Saran (28) and Anthony (31) suffered grievous injuries and were rushed to the RGGGH. Around 110 gas cylinders that fell on the road were cleared with help of another truck.

The tanker lorry driver Venkatesan (38) was admitted to the Royapettah GH and his left leg was amputated. Anna Square police are investigating.
