Bag with Rs 15 lakh gold, valuables returned to rail passenger
Railway Protection Force personnel returned a bag containing gold worth Rs 15 lakh to a couple, who missed it at Tambaram railway station.

Police said that Jebavel Raj (32), a software professional, from Selaiyur, and his wife, who were going to Tirunelveli to attend a wedding, came to the Tambaram station to board the Nellai Express on Monday night. After getting into the train, both found that their bag containing 60-sovereign jewels, a smartphone, cash, ATM and identity cards was missing. Immediately, they contacted the RPF personnel through the helpline number and informed them about the bag.
RPF constable Rajesh Yadav, who was on patrol on platform number seven, noticed an unclaimed bag. After enquiries with passengers and the public there, he alerted the Tambaram RPF inspector about the bag.
Immediately, an RPF team from Tambaram and Tambaram railway police rushed to the spot and checked the bag with help of metal detector for explosives. Meanwhile, the Tambaram RPF inspector received a call from the control room regarding the missing bag. The inspector after verifying the identity cards confirmed that it was the bag of Jebavel took it to the RPF office in Tambaram.
Since, the bag contained lot of valuables, the couple, who cancelled the journey, got down at Chengalpattu station and returned to Tambaram. The RPF inspector held an inquiry regarding the contents of the bag with Jebavel and his wife and handed it over to them.
