Sunny Leone seems almost nonchalant about the crowd that had gathered to get a glimpse of her. As she settles down for a chat, she dwells on how Season 1 of the web series on her life Karenjit Kaur opened to a tremendous reception.

“The second season will be launched on September 18. It has been an emotional roller-coaster shooting for Karenjit Kaur. Whenever I heard the narrative, I would get emotional. But then, I moved on and started focusing on the aspect of the film as a work of intense focus and artistry,” she begins.

She says that given the duration of the content, the web series couldn’t be made into a film. “Also, with the digital boom, we thought we could capitalise on the OTT platforms. People have started watching their favourite movies and shows on their mobile phones. We would see more actors entering the digital platforms in future,” she remarks.

Sunny also has bigger plans later this year, which she reveals for the first time. “The turnaround has definitely evoked an interest to venture into the digital platform. My husband Daniel Weber and I will be producing a digital show by the end of this year,” she says.

The actress also says that Daniel has been a tremendous pillar of support. “While I look at the creative side of my projects, he takes care of the business side of it. Be it my films or TV shows he gives me the scripts, I give it a read and let my team read it before giving the nod. We work together and it’s a great feeling,” she says.

Tamil audiences are keen to see her on the big screen with Veeramadevi, which is the first Tamil film in which she will be playing the lead.

“I have always wanted to be a part of this industry and I’m excited that I will be playing a warrior queen in Veeramadevi. However, to play this role I didn’t have to train in horse riding exclusively. This is something I have been doing ever since I was young. I am waiting to see what happens once I start shooting for the film. I am going to be in town on a long haul once I start shooting for the film. I believe in surrounding myself with people, who are really good at their jobs. The people here are receptive and polite. So, I love the atmosphere and people down south,” she says with a smile.

Has she started following films from the south? “I’m not there quite yet. The last south film I watched was Baahubali. I was disappointed when the first part ended abruptly. But then I was happy when I watched the second part,” she says.

Apart from production, Sunny Leone says that she wouldn’t be taking up writing or direction. “Absolutely not. It takes something special to write or direct. A lot of people think direction is something that everyone can easily pull off, which I don’t think is the case” she concludes.
