Bruschetta

This Italian delight is usually pronounced as ‘broo-sheh-tuh.’ However, the correct pronunciation is, ‘broo-SKET-tuh.’

Sriracha

This yummy sauce, which instantly lifts the flavour of food is called out wrong as ‘sree-rah-cha.’ Call it, ‘SEE-rah-cha.’

Hummus

Aren’t we all big fans of this yummy dip that can be eaten with almost anything? The next time you order it, please call it ‘Hoom-Us’ and not ‘hum-iss.’

Jalapeno

If you’re at a Subway, while ordering, make sure you call out for this fiery ingredient correctly as ‘Hah-lah-pen-nyoh’ and not as the spelling reads, ‘ja-la-peh-noh.’

Tortillas

It’s a crime to eat Mexican food if you cannot get this one right. Do not refer to this dish as ‘tor-tee-laas.’ The correct way to say it is, ‘TOHR-tee-YAHS.’

Quinoa

This humble salad topping has become a global phenomenon but is unfortunately pronounced in a million ways. The correct pronunciation is, ‘Kee-noah.’

Gnocchi

If you love Italian food then you must love this cute little delicious potato dumpling dish (rightly) called, ‘Nyoh-kee.’

Quesadilla

Just thinking about this wonderful Mexican dish makes one want to place an order for it. Say, ‘Kay-sa-dee-ah,’ when you do!
