Day after assault, Tamilisai meets victim with sweets
Apparently taking a cue from DMK president MK Stalin, BJP Tamil Nadu unit chief Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday visited an autorickshaw driver, who was allegedly manhandled by BJP workers during a recent press briefing by her at Saidapet.

The victim, identified as Kathir, had a pleasant surprise when the BJP president arrived at his home greeting him with sweets. After a brief chat with Kathir and his family, Tamilisai asked him to narrate the incident.
The BJP leader’s visit to the residence of Kathir came a day after a video clip showing the man being shoved aside went viral on social media, with the saffron party facing flak for it.
Following the visit, Tamilisai uploaded a video of her visit on Twitter in which the auto driver and his family were seen enjoying the casual interaction. Kathir also told Tamilisai that he did not want to make the assault a big issue as he just vented his anger against the petrol price hike. “Some political parties contacted me and offered to put up posters condemning the assault, but I chose to ignore their offer,” Kathir told Tamilisai adding that the petrol price hike is hurting people like him.
This was the second such incident in recent times in which a common man has challenged Tamilisai. Sofia, a PG student, was earlier arrested for raising anti-BJP slogans on a plane in the presence of the State BJP leader. During the first week of August, Stalin had visited employees of a restaurant in the city after they were assaulted by DMK workers for not serving them biriyani.
