Anna varsity’s programme to fuel start-up spirit in city
In a bid to empower engineering students to develop products of daily need, Anna University launched the “Concept to product” programme for the youth.

The required guidance and mentorship will be provided by the university faculty, technical experts from government departments and other organisations, and industrialists.
“This will help the students understand their capabilities and also will enhance their thoughts on start-ups,” a spokesperson from Anna University told DT Next on Thursday.
According to him, officials from district administration, police department, BSNL, school education, agricultural department, PWD, pollution control board, transport corporation, chamber of commerce and SIPCOT will be participating to impart the skills to the students.
Corporation officials will give training on solid waste management for corporation, tools for sanitary workers, energy efficient street lamp for corporation, smart traffic management for corporation, water stagnation in low lying areas during rainy season, automatic cleaning and maintenance of public toilets and low cost incinerators for sanitary napkins at educational institutions.
Similarly, PWD experts will give insight training in GIS mapping of rivers, road construction and maintenance using alternative materials, low cost housing construction, near-collapse building alert system, noise-reduction using sound absorbing concrete, measuring ground water level and initiating steps for water recharge.
Knowledge of identification of traffic rules violation, navigation support system for road safety, crime alert system using short code dialling for specific, and crime monitoring centre using a centralized server connected to all the CCTVs in the city will be given by police authorities.
