Trio arrested for attack on TNSTC crew in Thanjai

The Thanjavur police on Saturday arrested three persons for allegedly attacking a TNSTC bus conductor and driver.

According to police, a TNSTC bus was nearing Asoor in Tiruvaiyaru from Thanajvur old bus stand on Friday night.  

A youth, who was in an inebriated condition, misbehaved in the bus. The driver Natarajamurthy, from Perambur in Tiruvaiyaru, and conductor Mahendran, from Thirupuvanam, warned the youth and dropped him off mid-way.

When the bus returned, three persons bike followed the bus in a bike and interrupted the bus at Kodiyammal koil near Thanjavur. The three men assaulted the driver, conductor and fled from the spot.

The people in the area admitted the driver and conductor to Thanjavur medical college hospital for treatment. Due to this incident, traffic was disrupted in the area for a few hours.

Thanjavur West police rushed to the spot and held inquiries regarding the incident. A case was registered against the trio after the victim lodged a complaint. 

Based on the CCTV footage, police arrested Sudakar (30),  Surendran (28) from Kodikalar Puthutheru and Hariharasudan (31) of Sungathidal in Thanjavur. Further investigations were on.
