Daughter Soundarya to hold key post in Rajinikanth’s party

Sources told DT Next that Soundarya will be involved prominently in the actor’s political journey. 

“Thalaivar definitely wants to build upon his ‘family man’ image, and that will only solidify with his daughter by his side. Many Rajini Makkal Mandram members already expected this, as she has been present by her father’s side over the course of the last year. Moreover, she has made several key announcements about RMM on social media, such as when they amped up their online presence by launching dedicated Twitter accounts. Soundarya, with her educational background and know-how, will play an important role in working on the party’s social media appeal and communicating with youngsters in the party, as well as the voters,” said a source.

The graphic designer and filmmaker became the first woman to direct her father, when the motion-capture animated film Kochadaiiyaan released in 2014. Though the film was a box-office flop, Soundarya received praise for her work and went on to direct her brother-in-law Dhanush in Velaiilla Pattadhari 2 in 2017. The 33-year-old is the founder and owner of Ocher Picture Productions and is expected to accompany her father on his campaign trail.
