History-sheeter rescued 2 days after abduction, 4 held

Two days after a 45-year-old man city-based was abducted from Madurai by a six-member gang, Tiruvanmiyur police on Thursday rescued him from Dindigul and nabbed four of the abductors.

The police said that the victim, Ananth was a history-sheeter. He was accused in two cases and was abducted as he took Rs 10 lakh from the abductors and promised them a job in the Forest Department.

On Tuesday, Ananth travelled to Madurai. Meanwhile, his wife received a call from his number. One Raja spoke to her and informed that they had kidnapped Ananth and demanded Rs 10 lakh. 

His wife approached Tiruvanmiyur police, who registered a case and traced the location of the phone number. A team rushed to Dindigul and rescued Ananth and caught four of the abductors. 

The abdustors were identified as Raja, David, John Alexander and Vengaimuthu of Dindigul.  

Similarly, a five-member gang was arrested in Porur for kidnapping a call taxi driver. Police said that the victim, Vignesh was a call taxi driver. He was recently fired from his job. However, he had borrowed some money from the company as loan. In order to retrieve the money, the company officials called him to their office recently. The meeting  ended up in a quarrel and Vignesh escaped in a car belonging to the call taxi firm. 

On Wednesday night, a five-member gang kidnapped him in the same car from his house. Based on a complaint, he was rescued and five persons were remanded.
