Drunk youth ransack vehicles in Kilpauk, nabbed

The Kilpauk police have arrested five youngsters for allegedly ransacking parked vehicles under the influence of alcohol in the locality on Sunday night.

Sources said that residents of Pullapuram heard the loud noise around midnight. When they stepped out, five youngsters of the same locality were breaking the cars, two-wheelers and autorickshaws that were parked on the road with wooden logs and iron rods. In total, about 20 vehicles were damaged in the incident.

When residents confronted the youngsters, the latter allegedly tried to attack them as well. Based on the complaint from the residents, the Kilpauk police registered a case and arrested the youngsters. They were identified as Arun, Murali, Karthik, Nagaraj and Saleem. The police also seized weapons from them. 

Similarly, the Maduravoyal police have arrested four persons for creating nuisance in public at Alapakkam on Sunday night. According to police, Jayaseelan, Nithyanandam, Karthikraja and Mahendran were creating nuisance and making lewd comments on the passers-by under the influence of alcohol. Among them, Jayaseelan has a murder case pending against him, said police. All four were produced before a court and then remanded in judicial custody.
