4 Yamaha staff held for protesting atop cell tower

Police on Wednesday arrested four employees of Yamaha Motors, who staged a protest by climbing on top of a mobile phone tower last week inside the factory premises.

The arrested persons were identified as Chandru (28), Vignesh (30), Kanagaraj (38) and Suba (22) from Sriperumbudur. 

After the Yamaha management filed a complaint against the protesters, the Sirperumbudur police team on Wednesday early morning registered a case against 14 employees, who protested by climbing on top of the mobile phone tower on Friday, and arrested four of them. 

Nearly 700 of employees from the Yamaha are protesting for 13 days after two of their employees were suspended for forming a workers’ union. The protesters are demanding to take back the suspended workers.
