The student identified as Parul Satya attracted the attention of Chitlapakkam police constable Anand Raj, who inquired her on Saturday evening. As she failed to reply properly, he informed the police station.

Based on the instruction from the senior officers, he took the girl to the police station, where she was further questioned by a women police team.

“The girl was very depressed. She told that she was a final-year student of SRM Engineering College. She pursing EEE there,” noted Ramesh, inspector of the station.

The police called the girl’s father and informed him about the incident.  He then gave the number of BV Shivaji Ganesh, a local guardian, who was called and requested to come to Chitlapakkam police station.

Inspector Ramesh had a conversation with the girl’s father via WhatsApp video call. “The girl’s father spoke his daughter and his friend Sivaji Ganesan. Then, he told that his daughter can be sent with his friend,” the police noted.

On Sunday, the family members of the girl reached Chennai by flight and took the girl to their native. If she was not noticed on time, she could have faced trouble from anti-social elements, the police said.
