Man makes bomb threat to gain popularity
A 40-year-old man, who sent a hoax message that terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba has planted bombs on Mannargudi-bound express train from Jodhpur, was arrested on Saturday.

The accused, A Iqbal Hussain of Royapettah, told the police that he was ‘inspired’ by the sensational stories on international news channels and decided to become famous by disturbing public peace.
Following the message, the Railway Protection Force was alerted and the train was stopped midway around midnight and checked. The train was again stopped when it reached the Ennore railway station for a thorough inspection at 8.50 am. Bomb Detection and Disposal squad and sniffer dogs were also pressed into the service after passengers were alighted from the train.
Meanwhile, the cybercrime wing tracked his phone number to Royapettah and arrested Iqbal Hussain.
In another incident, the Vadapalani police arrested Naveen kumar, an MBA graduate from Vellore, who made a hoax bomb threat to Kovai Express train to delay it.
30-yr-old with fake passport held
A 30-year-old man was arrested when he tried to board a flight bound to Sharjah using a fake passport on Saturday morning.
The immigration officials were checking the documents of the passengers, who were about to board the Air Aribia flight to Sharjah. The officials scanned the passport of Thangavel (30) from Cuddalore and found it was fake. Soon, they cancelled his trip and handed him over to the Central Crime Branch sleuths.
The CCB officers during inquiry found Thangavel got a job in Sharjah. As he did not have a passport, he obtained one by paying an agent Rs 1 lakh. Following this, they arrested Thangavel and are on the lookout for the agent who issued the passport.
Leoni booked for defaming CM, govt
DMK orator ‘Dindigul’ I Leoni was booked under five sections of the IPC for his speech at an event to observe birth anniversary of M Karunanidhi four months ago in T Nagar. Leoni’s speech allegedly defamed Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy CM O Panneerselvam. He was also accused of making derogatory remarks against the State government.
