Gang kills youth over bursting of crackers
A 20-year-old youth was killed by a group of men after a fight broke-out while bursting crackers near Pallikaranai on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Nukampalayam near Pallikaranai.

A 20-year-old youth was killed by a group of men after a fight broke-out while bursting crackers near Pallikaranai on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Nukampalayam near Pallikaranai. Police said Sandeep lived in Mylapore with his grandmother and visited Nukampalayam once every week. Sandeep came to Nukampalayam to celebrate Diwali on Tuesday. Around 7.30 pm, when Sandeep was returning home after meeting his friend, Rahul (21) and Prabu (22) along with two others from the same locality were bursting crackers and they were blocking his way. Angered over this, Sandeep entered into a verbal conflict with them. The gang attacked Sandeep with a knife and fled from the spot. Sandeep, with cut injuries on the chest and neck, was rushed to a private hospital nearby. But doctors declared him dead on arrival. On information, the Pallikarani police rushed to the spot and sent the body for a post-mortem examination at Chromepet Government Hospital. They have also registered a case and search is on to nab the killers who are absconding.
