The encounter soon turns into a series of unforeseen events unfolding in front of the camera. The movie, essentially, captures two days from the life of this child, each six years apart.
Director of the film, Ramakrishna D, says, “I met a boy named Santhosh when I was shooting for a YouTube campaign in 2010. I learnt that he was struggling and decided to tell his story. His story is one in a billion, but I feel it is a reminder of the lives of the countless under privileged children living in many developing and under developed countries. It is a story to be experienced by every adult. The film takes an observational approach to not just the existing problem of addiction and substance abuse but also at negligence and denial of love and care to children. This film gives glimpses of Santhosh’s life as a fifth grader and then a 17-year-old teenager. The film shows the gritty truth of being a child from a downtrodden family living in a growing republic.”
The film will be screened at Alliance Francaise of Madras on Children’s Day.
