Electronic goods, gold seized at city airport
In two separate incidents, Customs officers have seized gold and electronic goods worth Rs 7.8 lakh and Rs 13 lakh, respectively, at the city airport here.

Commissioner of Customs Rajan Chaudhary said a passenger Fathima Sanoosa Amrul Fais (23), who arrived from Colombo on Tuesday morning was intercepted at the exit of the arrival hall based on a suspicion that she might be carrying gold. The officers seized two crude gold chains weighing 198 grams of 24 karat purity worth Rs 6.5 lakh from her. The gold was concealed in her rectum and the same was seized under the Customs Act 1962.
On Monday night, Mohamed Nisam (46), who had arrived from Kuala Lumpur by Air Asia flight was intercepted near the exit gate. When the officers checked his baggage, they found 17 Apple Watches, 10 I Phone 6S, six SIGMA camera lenses, 900 assorted 2GB rams worth Rs 13 lakh and one gold cut bit weighing 40 grams of 24k purity worth Rs 1.30 lakh, which were totally valued at Rs 14.3 lakh. All the electronic goods were seized from him. Further investigation is on.
