When he was rushed to Government KMC Hospital immediately after the incident on November 6, the deceased, Sathyaraj (30), of Sivaganga had claimed that he suffered the injury on the head after a fall. Following this, he was discharged after attending to the injury.
However, Sathyaraj felt pain on his head while he was in his native Sivaganga on November 9. He went to the government hospital and returned home after treatment. But as the pain increased, he went to the hospital again on November 12.
On suspicion, the medical team enquired him about reason for the injury again. That was when he disclosed the truth that he was injured after his colleague Dharmaraj hit him with a beer bottle.
His health condition deteriorated further and he died on Thursday morning in Sivaganga. Based on the hospital report, the Maduravoyal police registered a case and picked up Dharmaraj. A police team has also rushed to Sivaganga for an inquiry.
Police noted that the fight took place when the two were drinking in the bar around midnight after a busy day of business on Deepavali.
The same bar had witnessed a murder two months ago when a youth from Virugambakkam was murdered by his friend in a drunken brawl.
