Two women killed as building wall collapses in Chengalpattu

The building was in a dilapidated condition, said police. The incident took place around 7 pm when Ragini was talking to Selvarani at the entrance of the latter’s house. The front wall of Selvarani’s house suddenly collapsed and the women were trapped under the debris. Their neighbours rushed to rescue them. While Selvarani died on the spot, Ragini was taken to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. On information, the TNFRS personnel rushed to the spot and checked if any other person were caught under debris. The Chengalpattu Taluk police have registered a case and said that both women were widows and were working as daily wage labourers. Revenue Department officials also visited the spot to conduct an inquiry.
