Sahil was sent by his employer Habibullah Haj (34), who runs a gold polishing shop in Hanumantharaya Street, to deliver some jewellery to one of his clients. On his way, Sahil was allegedly intercepted by three people who initiated a conversation with him by claiming that they knew Habibullah. They also claimed that they had just returned from Hajj and offered to bless Sahil.
A few minutes later, Sahil returned to the shop and told Habibullah that the men had hypnotised him and escaped with the gold.
Habibullah then filed a complaint with the Elephant Gate police. He also told the police that Sahil has been working for him for about two years. Officers from the Elephant Gate police have collected CCTV footage from the locality and are questioning both Sahil and Habibullah. Meanwhile, a hunt has been launched for the unidentified trio.
