“Anna Nagar Deputy Commissioner M Sudhakar is conducting an inquiry into the allegation that head constable Parthipan is part of a prostitution racket. A case has been registered against him for colluding with the woman,” a senior officer disclosed.

It all started with the a 38-year-old woman sex worker picking up a customer from the CMBT bus stop on Sunday evening. He was taken to NSK Nagar in an auto rickshaw after fixing Rs 1,200 as the rate. The customer also has to pay Rs 300 for the auto rickshaw fare.

Once the two were at her place, head constable Parthipan suddenly showed up in uniform to threaten the costumer and snatch all the money that the ma had. When the man tried to leave after the policeman walked away with his cash, the woman demanded cash. As he was not in possession of money, she started creating a ruckus and called police control room claiming that the man had snatched her wallet.

A patrol team reached her place in NSK Nagar and took both to the Aminjikarai police station where the cops questioned them. The man narrated his version while she maintained the allegation that he snatched her purse. But when the police checked her phone, they found that she had earlier called Parthipan. When questioned, she confessed her link with Parthipan and admitted that she and the policemen had been robbing her customers this way regularly.

These findings were reported to higher up, and a case has been booked against Parthipan after an inquiry, sources said.
