Techie kills self after promotion at work gets cancelled

The deceased was identified as Nithya from Dharmapuri, who was staying in a rented house in New Perungalathur along with four of her friends.

Police said that Nithya was engaged recently and her marriage was scheduled to take place in February, 2019. 

Nithya was working in a software company in the same area. According to police, her name was referred for a promotion. However, she came to know recently that she was not in the list. Dejected over this, the woman told her friends on Thursday afternoon that she would not be coming to work as she was unwell.

Later, at 10 pm when her friends returned home, they found Nithya hanging from the ceiling. On information, a team of officers from the Peerkankaranai police station arrived at the spot and retrievedthe body. The body was send it for post-mortem examination to Chromepet Government Hospital.
