Police said Amal Raj of Manthoppu in West Tambaram has many cases pending against him and has been detained once under Goondas Act.

On Saturday evening, Amal Raj was reportedly invited by Velu and Suresh from Ranganathapuram in Tambaram for a drink. A quarrel broke out between them, resulting in Velu and Suresh attacking Amal Raj with a sickle. He died on the spot. After the murder, the duo tried to pack the body in a gunny bag and dispose of it. But residents noticed the duo in action and informed the police.

The police rushed to the spot and nabbed both Velu and Suresh. Police said there was a third person present at the spot and he escaped seeing the police team. The Tambaram police have registered a case and further investigation is on. They have also launched a hunt for the third person involved in the murder.
