Though the stretch has been in a bad shape and travel through it proves to be dangerous, officials have not bothered to initiate remedial measures despite repeated representations.

Villages like Padur, Vinampoondi, Maavalvadi and Vadamanipakkam and other surrounding villages are the worst-hit as buses have been stopped to these destinations.

Public claim that along with office-goers and students, farmers have also been affected badly as they are unable to transport the vegetables grown in their fields to Koyambedu market. Even mini-van and lorries refused to undertake trips to our areas, lament villagers.

Incidentally, since the road falls under the jurisdiction of both Kancheepuram and Tiruvannamalai districts, neither the Vandavasi municipality nor the Kancheepuram municipality has bothered to take up the repair work.

However, State Highway Engineer J Karthikeyan said, “The road is 500 metres long of which 300 metre falls in Kancheepuram district limit and the rest passes throughTiruvannamalai district. Recently the Kancheepuram collector ordered the repair of the whole road and hence work on the road is expected to be taken up soon.”
