CBI questions six police officers in gutkha scam

A Deputy Commissioner, two Assistant Commissioners and three inspectors were questioned by the CBI sleuths in connection with the gutkha scam on Wednesday.

This comes after the Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar, his secretary Saravanan and former state minister B V Ramana were grilled by the central agency. All officers were posted in the city police when the scam took place, said sources. 

While they are posted in different districts now, they were summoned to CBI office in Sastri Bhavan on Wednesday for an inquiry. It is said that the officers were also questioned regarding the role of former city police commissioner S George and DGP TK Rajendran. They are likely to be interrogated in the coming days, said sources.
