Sabarimala devotee hit by govt bus, dies

A 45-year-old man died after being hit by a government bus on Wednesday near Chengalpattu. The deceased was identified as Murugan of T Nagar. Police said that Murugan was returning from Sabarimala with other devotees in a private van.

Around 5.30 am, when they were on the National Highway near Chengalpattu, a private bus brushed off the van while trying to overtake. Soon, both the driver got into an argument.

When Murugan came out of the van and was trying to convince both the drivers, a government express bus proceeding towards Chennai hit Murugan and the private bus driver Kajudeen. 

Both were rushed to the Chengalpattu GH where Murugan was declared dead on arrival. The Chengalpattu Taluk police have registered a case and are inquiring. The traffic flow was affected at the Tiruchy-Chennai National Highway for more than a hour due to accident.
