Gang of 3 abducts, robs elderly man
A three-member gang kidnapped a 71-year-old man at knifepoint from Korattur, and dropped him at Nungambakkam after robbing six sovereigns.

Gopinath was out for a walk at 7.30 am when the gang in an autorickshaw approached him seeking direction to Easwaran temple in Padi. Claiming to be new to the city, they requested him to accompany them. Soon after he got in, they threatened him at knifepoint and relieved him of gold and Rs 300.
Gopinath’s son picked him up from Nungambakkam and lodged a complaint with Korattur police. The police have collected CCTV footage from Korattur and Nungambakkam, and are trying to identify the registration number.
Meanwhile, the Kancheepuram police nabbed a gang of six targeting senior citizens visiting ATMs on Rajiv Gandhi Salai and ECR. They were identified as Raja from Telangana, Venkatesan from Villivakkam, and Genga, Saranraj, Sirumbi and Danush from Andhra Pradesh. Following complaints of elderly being robbed, police checked CCTV footage and identified the suspects. Raja was nabbed during a vehicle check on Wednesday, while others were secured from Kelambakkam based on his confession
