Fisherman killed in village on ECR

The deceased was identified as Jayasingh, a resident of Alamaramkottai Kuppam. Around 10 pm, a group of men surrounded Jayasingh near his house and attacked him with knives. The gang left the spot after confirming he is dead. On information, Sunamedu police went to the spot and sent the body for autopsy to Chengalpattu Medical College Hospital. The police have registered a case and inquiring.

Police said that the fishermen villages - Alamaramkottai Kuppam and Kadapakkam Kuppam – were favourite spots for cinema shooting. At the end of the shooting, the movie crew would pay an amount that is to be shared among villagers. Often, the villagers from both the hamlets fight over this which could be the reason behind the murder, said the police.
