Police said it was an easy loot for them as B Hansraj used to be a house help at Santhoshkumar’s house and he knew where the victim kept the keys. When Santhoshkumar noticed the valuables missing on Monday, he noticed that the keys were at the same place he had kept them and the CCTV cameras were turned off.

After he lodged a complaint, the Korukkupet police combed the CCTV footage on Ularaman Koil Street where the house is located and identified Hansraj and his brother B Harendra Singh moving with bags in the wee hours of Monday.

Based on the information that they have boarded Sampark Kranti Express train from Villupuram, the Railway police were alerted and they nabbed the duo. All the stolen jewels and cash were recovered from them. They were brought to the city from Vishakapattinam on Tuesday.

“After quitting the job, Hansraj hatched a plan to loot Santhoshkumar and called his brother to assist him. Hansraj entered the house from backdoor while Harendra Singh waited outside. He looted the house when Santhoshkumar and his mother were asleep and kept the keys in the same place before leaving the house,” police said.
