Fake passport racket busted, 13 arrested
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths of the city police busted a fake passport racket and arrested 13 suspects in the city. As many as 151 fake passports, supporting documents, Rs 18 lakh and a laptop were seized from them.

“Mostly, people from Gujarat and Punjab approached the gang to create forged documents and obtain passport with fake credentials. The accused also had access in consulates of various countries and helped their clients get visas. Their clients will get a tourist visa and end up staying abroad to find themselves a job,” said a CCB officer investigating the case.
He added that they received a tip-off that all the accused have come to Chennai and surrounded them.
The accused have been identified as D John Prabhakar of Mylapore, G Sujith of Delhi, R Venkatesh Nayak of Mumbai, Himanshu Mewari of Uttarakhand, J Mohammed Yusuf of Pudupettai, P Mahesh of Avadi, A Johnson of Mylapore, P Vijay Prabu of Kolathur, N Venkateshwaran of Choolaimedu, R Ravi of Perambur, M K Rejil of Ayanavaram, G Anatharaman of Kottivakkam, R Sankar of Vandalur. They have been remanded in judicial custody, said the city police.
