Two killed in separate accidents
An attempt to overtake a truck turned fatal for a 22-year-old man after his motorbike ran amok and rammed the median on Tiruvottiyur High Road on Sunday.

Police said that the deceased Saran (22) of C G Colony at Tondiarpet was riding the bike while his friend Arun (23) who was riding pillion also sustained grievous injuries. The duo was returning to Saran’s house after meeting a friend at Ernavur. Around 2.15 am, Saran attempted to overtake the lorry when the truck driver took right. Saran lost control of the bike and rammed the median.
The duo was thrown off the bike and Saran died on the spot with severe head injuries. Arun was rushed to the Stanley Medical College Hospital.
While the trucks are supposed to take the Ennore Express Highway Road, the truck driver used the Tiruvottiyur High Road causing the accident, said police.
The Washermanpet Traffic investigation police registered a case and booked the truck driver for rash driving and causing death due to negligence. The police are yet to arrest the driver. In another accident, a 25-year-old man who was driving a motorbike was fatally knocked down by an unidentified vehicle. He was identified as Vijay from Tindivanam. Around 4 am on Sunday, the police received the information that a crushed motorbike and a man’s dead body was found near the bushes at Kallapirankuppam near Madurantakam on the Chennai-Tiruchy National Highway. The Madurantakam police registered a case and are investigating.
