The portal will have three modules, including skill assessment and career guidance, virtual learning system and employment engagement and tracking module. The objective of the new scheme is to offer universal career guidance to students from Class 9.

It will not only help students assess their skills, but also offer expert counselling based on the assessment report. Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency has been entrusted to complete career service portal within a couple of weeks.

A senior official from the agency told DT Next on Monday that the virtual learning system module has been developed and is ready to go live. The development of the tracking module is almost complete and is likely to be launched soon.

“This virtual learning portal is in line with the skill development initiatives of the government in accordance with the future plans. The portal caters the students’ needs to prepare for competitive exams and enhance their skills.

In addition to this, the portal also allows live telecast of lectures and educational programmes across all colleges and universities in the state”, the official said.

The system will also have a centralised interactive web-based learning system that will include training for competitive exams, online tests, mock interviews, group discussion, skill assessment, career guidance and mentoring support.

Speaking about the employment engagement and tracking module, the official said the system would help candidates be ready for employment opportunities with private employers.

He said that to register, the candidates would have to upload their credentials in the Union Government “Digilocker”. The official added that registration is enabled for both private and corporate companies across various sectors.

Through this module, corporates and candidates can view profiles, assess, select, validate, share post, apply, track jobs until jobs are finalised, the official said, adding that the system would also organise job fairs based on the request of the employers.
