Man held for robbing gold chain from idol

The suspect was identified as Kannan from Urapakkam. Police said that on Thursday morning Kannan reached the Sri Srinivasa Perumal temple near the Pallavaram bus stop.Police said that the temple priest due to Kannan’s unusual behaviour kept an eye on him. Meanwhile, Kannan went near the Thiripurasundari Amman idol and pretended to worship by touching the idol.

According to police, in between the act he suddenly snatched the gold chain from the neck of the goddess and put it in his pocket.The priest and other devotees who noticed this, caught Kannan thrashed him before handing him to Pallavaram police station. The police have registered a case and are enquiring.
