After threat, security beefed up at airport
In the wake of an intelligence report warning of a possible terror attack in the view of Republic Day celebrations, security has been beefed up in Chennai airport.

“Security has been beefed up and visitors’ entry has been banned in Chennai airport,” sources said on Sunday. “Visitors entry to the domestic and international terminals have been banned till January 31,” the sources said adding that a 7-tier security has been put in place at the airport to thwart any kind of possible attack.
As part of enhanced security arrangements, additional security personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force and police were also deployed, airport sources said on Sunday. Police noted that all the vehicles entering the airport were being checked and added that security will be increased at railway stations, bus terminus and places of public congregation.
