Police intercept gang, thwart murder plan
Four men who kidnapped a 27-year-old man – allegedly to murder him – were intercepted by police during patrol on GST Road near Chengalpattu on Monday. His alleged relationship with a married woman was the motive for the murder plan, police said, adding that the quartet were arrested.

The arrested persons were identified as Madan (30), Ramachandran (42) Kumar (45) and the auto driver Palani (35), all from T Nagar. Police seized the vehicle and two sickles from them.
Police said Hari, a resident of Kannagi Nagar in Thoraipakkam, is working as a delivery man at a private company. Around noon on Monday, a group of men approached Hari near Taramani and began to chat with him. Suddenly they pushed him inside an auto-rickshaw they sped off from the spot. Vincent, a colleague who saw the incident, alerted the Taramani police immediately.
Around 6.30 pm, Chengalpattu Taluk SI George and constable, who were on patrol on National Highway noticed the speeding auto from which a person was screaming for help. The patrol team chased and intercepted the auto at the near Palavayil. Inside, they found Hari with cut injuries while the men had sickles with them. When they were asked to get down, two of them, Palani and Kumar, left their accomplices and Hari and escaped from the spot on the auto.
Police sent Hari to Chengalpattu government hospital, and took Madan and Ramachandran to Chengalpattu Taluk police station for inquiry. They also alerted the control room about the escapees. Before long, anotherpolice team caught them at Pallavaram-Thooraipakkam Radial Road and handed them to Chengalpattu Taluk police station.
After preliminary inquiry, police said Hari had was involved in a relationship with Madan’s wife, which he continued despite Madan warning them both.Madan then informed his wife’s brother Ramachandran, who, along with his friends Palani and Kumar,planned to kill Hari.
Police said the gang had planned to kill Hari on the Palar river bed and chop his body into many pieces.
The Chengalpattu Taluk police handed over the four accused to the Taramani police, who have registered a case and are inquiring further.
