Balakrishnan, a movie director, murdered his wife Sandhya (34) on January 19, chopped her body into pieces and dumped it in different places. The incident came to light after the workers found her limbs while disposing garbage at the Perungudi dump yard. The garbage was brought from Kodambakkam. Following this, the Pallikaranai police registered a case.

On Wednesday, the police arrested Balakrishnan in connection with the case. They said that Balakrishnan murdered his wife by hitting her with a hammer, chopped her body using a fish knife and dumped it garbage bins in and around Jafferkhanpet. On the same day, the hip portion of the body was found near the Adyar river bed. Since then, the police have been searching for the head, which is an important evidence in the case.
