The police have also given a common contact number, 94981 81457, to register complaints about traffic violations. A bystander or Good Samaritan who takes a victim to the hospital (or the eyewitness), should be allowed to leave immediately after furnishing address.
Hospitals should not detain them or demand payment for registration and admission costs unless the person is a family member or relative of the injured.
The victim should be treated immediately; lack of response by a doctor would be subjected to disciplinary action.
Those who call to inform the police or emergency services should not be compelled to reveal their name and personal details.
Action would be initiated against public officials who coerce or intimidate a bystander or Good Samaritan for revealing name or personal details.
In case a Good Samaritan chooses to be a witness, their examination should be — as far as possible — conducted at a time and place of their convenience such as residence, office.
The officer should be dressed in plainclothes unless they choose to visit the police station.
Eyewitnesses should be examined in a single session, using methods in accordance to Section 296 or Section 284 of CrPC. Video conferencing may be used extensively used during examination.
