On Sunday night, Raj and his associates, Saravanan, Sugumar, Manoharan, were sitting at a bus stop near a popular eye clinic in Nungambakkam, as a building nearby was being demolished. They were planning to collect the debris in a lorry. As they were sitting there talking, an SUV pulled up in front of them. A man from it asked Raj to come to the vehicle as ‘Anna’ wanted to have a word with him.
When Raj went near the car, he was pulled inside and the vehicle took off. Half an hour later, his phone was switched off.
His associate Saravanan (32) lodged a police complaint. According to him, Raj already had injuries on his body when he met him on Sunday. The car that was used in the kidnap had a DMK flag, Saravanan added. Investigating the case, Choolaimedu police have collected CCTV footage from the locality to get leads about the kidnappers. Raj has a wife and two children
