City to experience high temperature in coming days

Hot humid days are back again with the city recording 32.9 degree Celsius on Sunday. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre here, the temperatures are expected to rise over the coming days.

In the past decade, the highest maximum temperature was recorded in 2009, which was 34.9 degree Celsius. The second highest was in 2010 where the temperature soared to 34.2 degree Celsius.


During the past four years, the highest temperature of the city during this month hovered around 33 degree Celsius. In 2018, the month recorded 32.8 degree Celsius as its highest. The year before that recorded a temperature of 33.1 degree Celsius on February 8. The all-time record of the city was 36.7 degree Celsius in the year 1927.


“The city will continue to experience the high day time temperature in the coming days. We also have the chances of receiving light showers in the next three days. Similarly, there will be an increase in the night temperature too,” said an officer at the RMC.


For the next two days, the sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy with the maximum temperature of 32 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature of 24 degree Celsius.


An upper air circulation lies over Telangana and its neighbourhood above the mean sea level. A trough extends from this cyclonic circulation to Kanniyakumari area acrossRayalaseema and interior Tamil Nadu.


Owing to it, light rain is likely to occur at the isolated places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the next three days.
