“Documentaries and short films are the best way to reach out to the public today to pass on a particular message – more so in the case of youngsters. As our state has decided to go plastic free, we want to educate the public on the same and the hazards of using plastic and what better way to do that than through the making of documentaries,” said A J Hariharan, Founder Secretary, ICWO.

It may be noted that there is no barrier in terms of requirements for participants. “Anyone can take part in the contest and films not exceeding 10 minutes can even be shot onmobile phones. However, it is important to note that each film must carry a message,” he stated.

Those willing to participate, must submit their video on or before February 20 to the ICWO office in Anna Nagar. The top three winners will get cash prizes of Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 respectively.

. “We hope that the makers of the documentaries will learn from their work on the hazards of plastic. This contest is aimed at changing the state into a completely plastic free state,” he added.
