DVAC raids net 17L from nine govt offices
In a major crackdown on corruption at government offices, the sleuths from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) searched eight government offices across TN and seized nearly Rs 17 lakh unaccounted cash in two days.

Searches were carried out in offices of Civil Supplies Department, office of State Accountant General, office of Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, office of Registrar of Cooperative Societies and sub-registrar offices.
A statement from investigation agency on Friday said that during the surprise raid at Adi Dravidar Department’s office in The Nilgiris, the team managed to seize Rs 6.35 lakh unaccounted cash and documents.
At Madurai, the DVAC team raided the State Accountant General’s office and seized Rs 2.5 lakh unaccounted cash, the release said. The sleuths who went to the Cooperative Sub-Registrar office at Tamil Nadu Government Employees’ Union building in Tirunelveli seized unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 1.58 lakh. At Coimbatore, the offices seized Rs 1.26 lakh from the Sub-Registrar office in Thondamuthur.
Teams from DVAC also conducted searches in Civil Supply Department’s offices in Tiruvannamalai, Ariyalur, Vedanchanthur and Periyakulam and seized unaccounted cash, the release said. At Tiruvannamalai Civil Supply office, it added, the team seized Rs 23,290.
At the Ariyalur Civil Supply Department office, the sleuths managed to seize Rs 42,000 along with some documents.
The DVAC team, which searched the Civil Supply office in Vedanchanthur in Dindigul district, seized Rs 95,280 from there, while another team that carried out searches in Periyakulam in Theni district seized Rs 32,000 from there.
In another seizure on Friday, the DVAC slueths from Krishnagiri seized Rs 3.1 lakh from a government office in Hosur on Friday.
