The Fort police received a complaint from INS Adyar that a Navy officer identified as Mohit spotted a drone hovering over the high-security premises on Monday night.

Fort police inspectors Muniyasamy and Alamelu swung into action and inquired the Navy officer about the incident. It is said that the drone was flying at the height of 1,000 ft. They identified the device with the sparking of light emanated from the device.

The police said that the Navy officers spotted it again around 11 pm. After they alerted their senior officers, a formal complaint was lodged at the Fort police station.

As flying drones without permission is banned in the city, the police suspect youngsters might have flown it during the night to avoid police scanner and the investigation is on whether there is any other motive behind the incident. A hunt has also been launched for the suspects.
