More than five questions in several sections, including a compulsory question, in the mathematics paper disappointed many students. “The paper was not that easy. Answers for few questions were lengthy and we had to spend more time on that,” S Balakrishnan, a student of a private higher secondary school in Chrompet, said.
Stating that a couple of questions were tough in section II, the Balakrishnan said that all the questions came from within the syllabus.
Teachers predicted that the number of centum will come down this year as only a smaller section of candidates could answer all the questions. “Even a few bright students told us that they could not attend few questions due to lack of time,” S Parvathi, a mathematics teacher who takes classes for higher secondary students in Pallavaram, said.
Students who appeared for Zoology also said that their question paper was very tough.
According to a student, K Sathish, in section II and III, the compulsory questions were most difficult.
Meanwhile, one student from Tirupur and another from Tiruvallur were caught indulging in malpractice.
After two days’ gap, the students from both Science and Commerce group will face their main exams from Monday.
Among 8.61 lakh students, about 5.28 lakh will appear for Science group exams and 2,61,416 students will be appearing for Commerce group exams.
Meanwhile, Class 10 CBSE students had mixed reactions after appearing for Mathematics exam on Thursday. While some of them said the questions were complicated, others claimed that it an easy paper.
