According to the police, head constable Rajesh was conducting a vehicle check opposite Central railway station when he intercepted C Vinod (33) around 10.30 am.

“Vinod, a resident of Wall tax Road, was on his way back home from the government hospital on the road. As he was not wearing a helmet, the constable asked him to pay the fine. When the biker refused to pay, they got into a verbal fight and later Vinod attacked the constable. “The biker punched the policeman on the face before escaping from the scene,” the police said.

A sub-inspector, who was standing nearby, rushed to his rescue and sent him to a government hospital. Vinod was later nabbed and arrested by a police team.
