The programme will focus on the importance and relevance of self-employment and entrepreneurship, CFL and LED technologies, solar PV energy system and types of PV cells. It will also make the students analyse the real world problems in power generation.

A senior official from the institute said the training programme will largely help students who could not pursue higher studies.

After enrolment, the students will receive a copy of the simplified course material which will help them understand the concept of solar power using practical knowledge.

According to the official, the programme was started since there were several opportunities in the solar energy sector.

Stating that the solar power industry was one of the fastest growing industries in the nation, the official said, “The solar power value chain confronts various process and positions at each stage and has multiple subsets that can be different from each other.” “The training programme includes scope for solar power, life cycle of solar energy, solar charge controller technology, solar PCU technology, panel mounting design among others,” he added.

Subjects such as solar PV pumping system, which would be useful in remote areas, will also be a part of the course, he said.

After completion of the training, the government will arrange tie-up between students and the bank for starting their own business. “A separate placement session will also be arranged for students seeking employment,” he added.
