The alliance, which had taken a stance to canvass for Congress Hand symbol earlier, had to postpone the campaign because of a revolt by the CPI in the alliance. The CPI has not participated in the meeting of the alliance partners conducted by the Congress as the Thattanchavady Assembly seat was given to the DMK in the by-election ignoring the demand of the CPI to contest it. As the Congress managed to pacify the CPI leaders, the latter had decided not to contest the Assembly by-poll and support the DMK and the Congress for Puducherry Lok Sabha seat. With things set right, the alliance will commence the electioneering, party sources said. Prior to that a meeting of the alliance partners would be held in a private hotel here in which the modalities to be adopted in the canvassing will be chalked out, the sources added.
