Spiced coffee: The new global food trend
Coffee is one of the most popular drinks around the globe. The delicious brew now has many avatars — from ghee to raw egg coffee, even mushroom and broccoli coffee. This favourite morning drink has been put through a whole lot of innovation, albeit with some cringe-worthy and even downright disastrous results.

Then there’s that wildly popular golden latte or turmeric latte-coffee brewed with haldi or turmeric powder. But this isn’t the only spice that you can add to your cuppa. Ginger coffee is quite popular among coffee drinkers around the world — a few slices of fresh ginger or some ginger powder before brewing your drink can lead to a delicious spiced brew.
Adding orange liqueur in an iced brew, or tossing in some orange zest along with ground coffee beans into the filter of an electric coffee maker will result in orange spiced coffee. A dish of cinnamon, brown sugar and some whipped cream will beautifully complete the drink. Finally, cardamom, or elaichi, is a spice that is mostly associated with masala chai. But did you know that it can even be added to coffee? The green spice with tiny black pods can be added to coffee for an aromatic brew that is an ideal relaxant. Cardamom also has anti-inflammatory properties, hence, makes for a great addition to a cuppa.
