Woman hired gang for revenge murder

A 38-year-old woman from West Mambalam who allegedly masterminded the murder of history-sheeter M Baskaran, who was killed near a Tasmac shop in Arambakkam near Padappai in Kancheepuram district on Sunday, has been detained by the police.

The police said that the woman, identified Bhuvaneshwari, hired mercenaries to eliminate Baskar because he had killed her husband Kandan last year. Five persons had already surrendered in Egmore court in connection with the murder. The surrendered were identified as G Manimaran (29) of Perungudi, R Venkatesan (30) from Thuraipakkam, A Musariputhan(38) from Thuraipakkam, K anandakumar (42) of Perungudi and Saleem Gilani (29) from Kottivakkam.


Baskaran was hacked to death in the Tasmac bar on Sunday afternoon in Manimangalam police jurisdiction, in Kancheepuram district. The deceased was a murder suspect and a resident of T Nagar. He had been trying to live a new life as a painter in suburban Padappai. He was living with his wife and two children.


The police said that Baskaran had consumed alcohol with his murderers on Sunday afternoon at the bar in Arampakkam. They later hacked him to death in front of the bar.
